Executive Coaching

“Career Consciousness has been instrumental in assisting me in bringing clarity to the office’s vision for extending the richness and reach of our urban mission in Southern New Jersey. Helen Richardson has enabled me to transform my broader concepts into concrete action steps, containing a strong sense of compassion and integrity.  The organizational development consultation that I have received has been invaluable and I highly recommend it to both individuals and organizations. ”
Gary Rodwell, Ph.D., Director of Public Affairs, Camden County College

“As an Executive Coach, (Helen Richardson) gave me tools for self-reflection, assessing the strengths and the work styles of my team, and she helped to pave a path for a more effective, highly functioning leadership of the organization … ”
–Amy Holdsman, Executive Director, White-Williams Scholars

Leadership Training

“Career Consciousness provided our organization with one of the best training programs for mid-level management I’ve ever seen. During the process, participant morale, individual engagement and commitment were high and team evaluations included: “best course ever provided by JEVS,” “changed my management style,” and “made me more aware of myself and others.””
–Diane Posternak, Senior Vice President, JEVS Human Services

“Helen Richardson’s insight and analytical skills were integral to the success of our staff educational retreat. Her acuity, concepts and contributions were also very helpful with our strategic planning and the compilation of our Human Resources manual.”
–Nilda Ruiz, President and CEO, APM Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha

Supervisory Skills Training and Coaching

“The goal of the program was to improve the core supervisory capabilities of our medical practice managers. The program accomplished that and so much more. It was the perfect mix of self-discovery, useful concepts and tools, and opportunities to apply what was learned. Rookie managers blossomed and our veterans found a renewed sense of purpose. Most importantly, I saw real changes in our medical practices as the managers put their new insights and strategies to work. Helen and her partners at Career Consciousness did a fabulous job. I have heard nothing but incredibly positive feedback from program participants, their managers, and even our senior leadership. Helen and her partners at Career Consciousness did a fabulous job. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage them in the future or to recommend them to others.”
–Jennifer Livingston,Manager, Training & Organization Development Clinical Practice Group, Drexel University

(Supervisor 25 yrs. ) I had problems with an employee that was always defensive and spoke over me.  In the program, I learned how to not let emotions drive any discussions.  I was able to redefine (defensive employee’s) job functions and location.  We are now working as a team, working together to get the billing done in a time manner.  I realized that I don’t need to have everyone love me.

-M. Daniels, Clinical Practice Manager, Drexel University College of Medicine

(Supervisor 5 yrs. ) “I was hopeless and frustrated with the current working environment.  In the training, I learned “A New Way to Think About Work” that is much healthier.  I even carried this over to my personal life.  We have implemented new processes to start focusing on strengths.  Little time is spent celebrating the good things — they seem to get lost in monitoring and quality metrics reports.  I feel empowered and a sense of relief.  I now feel it is okay to say “no” and not take on additional responsibilities because I can do it.  Learning to carve out time for myself during the day like a meeting I can’t miss has helped me with my productivity.  I realize that change does truly begin with me and that the only thing that I have true control over is my reaction to the many unpredictable events in the clinic and in life.

-A. Yapp, Clinical Practice Manager, Drexel University College of Medicine

Employee Development

“After limited success with a variety of vendors, we chose Career Consciousness…the results have been phenomenalemployees who participated in the Kick Start Your Career Program have made tremendous progress.”
–Sheila Ireland, Director of Training, Philadelphia Water Department

“Career Consciousness was very helpful for me. It allowed me to showcase skills that I have but was unable to showcase in the capacity I was working. Specifically it allowed me to showcase my presentation skills. This opportunity increased my confidence and gave my co-workers and manager a new view of me. Career Consciousness afforded me a better understanding of my advancement options. This was done by working with us as a group to explore group and individual options.

The fact that Career Consciousness worked with us has had lasting impact on my career. I believe that as a result of showing abilities outside of the job I was doing at the time made me a candidate for what I’m doing now. While my title has not changed yet I am in a position to get a new promotional opportunity. I am working on a team to bring in a new billing system. In my new position I’m doing presentations and training.

The approach Career Consciousness used in training was effective. What I like about its style of training was it was interactive. Other training is purely boring lecture format. They used a variety of trainers with various teaching styles to make the training interesting and effective for different types of learners. Helen Richardson’s personality has on approach that puts you at ease. Her willingness to go above and beyond is evident in her making herself available during off hours. I really don’t know where I would be as far as my career is concerned had I not come in contact with Career Consciousness.”
–David Jones, Kick Start Your Career Participant

“By participating in this training, I have been given tools to recognize what is needed and where I best fit in, in City government.”
Audrey Drummond, Kick Start Your Career Participant

“…The Kick Start Your Career training could be re-named, ‘Kick Start Your Life.’ Through a series of workshops, role playing, skill tests and aptitude models, you are able to define your individual style for not only your career but also other aspects of your life. The style in which the course is offered allows the individual to garner for themselves what is useful and what is interesting and important to them. I was given the opportunity to learn about myself in an open forum which I thought I would hate, but realized was so useful.

There is something to be said for having a class with an open exchange of ideas and even though I didn’t want to hear what anyone else had to say at first—only I’m important, right?—it was so relevant to listen to what others had been through in order to better shape a sense of myself. I discovered areas that I never thought I could excel at were actually a lot closer to my personal style, and, therefore, jobs I didn’t think I would be good at, were actually jobs that I’m not only interested in, but qualified for as well.

We sometimes keep ourselves in this little box of what we think we are supposed to be good at and what we are supposed to want. The training enabled me to think outside of that box and visualize a future for myself full of possibilities that I had never even considered. The class also energized me. As the weeks went by, I found myself wanting to accomplish things, wanting to want more. It might sound cheesy, but the honest truth is that Kick Start, simply stated, made me hopeful, made me feel encouraged, and made me want to be better. I now feel I am in a position to get started bettering my work situation, through the skills I learned, the bonds I formed, and the personal relationships I cultivated.”
Barbara Sheridan, Kick Start Your Career Participant

“The Career Consciousness approach to training was intense for me. It took me to places internally, mentally, that I would normally avoid but always knowing it’s a place I needed to be and it’s safe to be there. Taking the various assessments in The Kick Starting Your Career training helped me to pin point other areas of interest that I had thought about but never seriously considered pursuing as a career.

Being conscious of my personality type helps me to understand how and why I am affected by my surroundings when interacting with co-workers and people in general.

I also discovered that I had more going on than I gave myself credit for. At this point and time in my life, I am right where I’m supposed to be!”
Cynthia Rogers-Fleming, Kick Start Your Career Participant

“…When I first met the staff from Career Consciousness, I was about to graduate from school in the Information Technology field. I realized deep down inside of me I’m a nurturing person and would work well in the Social Service field…”
–Thelma Kennerly, Kick Start Your Career Participant

“Thank you for all that you have done in my life and for the Career consciousness that has set me on this path of bringing me to the awareness of what my purpose is in life.”
Robert Hall, Founder and Executive Director, Amongst Men

“Personally, the training lived up to my expectations and even went beyond my expectations. I was able to implement some new assessment tools immediately in my classes with much success. As we begin a new program year, I look forward to using my new skills. The most important personal achievement is the beginning of my graduate studies at Temple University this fall with the encouragement of the training facilitators and fellow staff members.”
Patricia A. Pettis, Workforce Development Instructor

“The impact the training had on the program can be seen in how the case managers and the supervisor interact with their customers. There has been an improvement in how they approach customers about sensitive issues through the styles of questioning that were introduced to us by the trainer. There is also a better understanding of when to use what type of questioning in order to receive more concise information from the customer. The most significant result of the training was my decision to return to school for a master’s in human service.”
Deborah Manson, Assistant Director, Workwise Program

Individual and Group Career Coaching

“Since being introduced to Dr. Helen Richardson and Career Consciousness, I feel like I know the things that make me happy at work and the things that are upsetting as well as what is fulfilling and what is draining.  I have been empowered to make career decisions that are in line with the things that I value most in life.  I have been positioned to be truly successful.”
–Khalil Meggett, CPA

“Helen Richardson has a gift for helping you excavate your purpose. Through strength tests and counseling sessions, Helen helped me embrace parts of my talents that weren’t being fully tapped as well as revealed career areas I had not considered. Helen’s holistic approach also encompasses life goals not just career goals. I can truly say that my current career choices are more informed, self-empowering, and exciting because of my relationship with Helen.”
–Emma Tramble

“You need to know you before you can sell you. Before we did our work together, I could write down a list of work that I had done, but I didn’t own it. You helped me to get to a specific place where I needed to go, less intellectual and more emotional—which is where we all really live. I’ve got myself back, calm, happy and energized.”
–Sheila Ireland who left a stable City job of 20 years

“What can I say…Helen Richardson, CEO of Career Consciousness changed not only the trajectory of my professional life, but my personal life as well, with one simple phrase, ‘Kimberly, you must do work that speaks to your soul.’

Prior to meeting Helen, while I never had a problem getting a job, I was a career job hopper, or as I like to say “free agent,” always hopping to the highest bidder. While I made a decent living, I realized that money was just not enough of a motivator for me to stay on a track that I felt really did not represent my authentic self, and most importantly dissatisfied with work that really did not reflect my core values.

Thankfully, I was smart enough to work with Helen and figure out what really lit my fire. Twelve years of working for myself and I have absolutely no regrets and am eternally grateful to Helen for her “down-to-earth,” yet compassionate approach to career coaching. If you are serious about finding your true path and happiness, then work with Helen Richardson.”
–Kimberly Garrison, Founder, 1 on 1 Ultimate Fitness, LLC

“The workshop gave me an excellent framework for evaluating work. It also gave me insight into why I have been unhappy in some of the positions I’ve held and what to look for in the future jobs/work…Finally, it gave me some tools to resolve some of the issues which the assessments and activities helped me uncover.”
–Crystal Cubbage, Workshop participant

“I really enjoyed the workshop and got out of it what I wanted and more.  I was able to confirm that I am an educator for all the right reasons and want to remain in this field, but must be open to new ways of educating people.”
–Indira Lawson, Workshop participant

“The workshops offered a wealth of information and materials that I will be able to use to look back on insights from this course and continue to use going forward to help me on my lifework journey.”
–Wanda Moore, Workshop participant

“This course provided great insight into parts of myself that are sometimes difficult to assess and/or understandthis includes both my strengths as well as my weaknesses. I see the difference in terms of how I successfully interact with others with greater confidence because I understand myself better.”
Jennifer Brower, Workshop participant

Assessment Tools

“The FIRO-B assessment was by the far the best assessment for me. This has helped me to understand my behavior and feelings in both the work place and with my personal relationships as well.It has shifted my perception of why I do what I do.
–Jennifer Brower, Workshop participant

“The PMAI really illuminated some behavioral issues for me which extend back to childhood. I found the archetypes to be the most striking of the assessments. While they were all helpful, this one really hit home for me with the stories that I have held as blocks to growth in my relationships.
–Wanda Moore, Workshop participant

“I learned that as an ISTJ, I extrovert my thinking, which is true. The exercise gave me confidence in MBTI as a diagnostic tool.
